The owner (designer and lead smith/ fabricator)
My work began in Germany of 1992, where I participated in a dual 3-year apprenticeship at the “Staedtische Berufsschule Metall” in Munich. After my apprenticeship in 1996, my journeyman years began while working under Stahl Radikal, Dudek Kunstschlosserei, Wieneke Metallbau and Herbert Elflein. Master Blacksmith Herbert Elflein exposed me to traditional metalwork, especially the Rokoko (Rococo) Epoch, where some of the most complicated and voluminous type of architectural designs in blacksmithing were ever achieved. Mr. Elflein had intensely researched this type of work for many years resulting in him being able to produce work harmonizing that style. Under his tutelage, I was able to practice leafwork and ornaments from this design period alongside other styles such as Gothic, Renaissance, Art Nouveau and modern metalwork. In 2000, I completed my Master Trade Certificate and shortly after, immigrated to Canada and settled in Kingston, Ontario in 2002.
I opened my first Canadian blacksmith studio in Kingston, Ontario in 2003, and then expanded into my current location in Godfrey, Ontario in 2011. Throughout the years I have been commissioned to complete blacksmith projects in France, Switzerland, Germany, United States and throughout Canada.
I specialize in hand forged wrought iron designer pieces using a mixture of traditional blacksmithing techniques and modern metal fabrication. My work includes architectural and designer creations such as gates, furniture, railing elements, lighting and garden art for both interior and exterior applications.
